To finish out our series on how to take back control of your smartphone, I’d like to talk about my five favorite apps that help me to connect with my faith.  We all know how loud the world around us can be, especially with the booming voice of social media.  So if faith is something important to you as well, I’d love to share these apps with you!  With them, I find it a little easier to tune out the noise around me and to tune into what God would like to teach me.

First 5 – This is my new favorite.  First 5 is a new app put out by Proverbs 31 Ministries.  Lysa TerKeurst  is one of my favorite Christian authors and she is at the head of this life-changing app.  Within this app, you are able to set an alarm to wake you in the morning.  This alarm will take you to a daily devotional that will take you no more than 5 minutes to read.  Instead of starting your day with your Facebook newsfeed (that’s me!), start your day with vision from God and His Word.  Those first 5 minutes being spent in his presence can change the course of your entire day.  Need a mid-afternoon pick-me-up as well?  The app will also send an alert to your phone mid-afternoon to give you “more moments” to reset your mind on Christ.

Echo – If you have trouble maintaining a consistent and intentional prayer life, then this is the app for you.  It is a place where you can write down specific people or situations you want to be praying for.  When the prayer is answered, you can mark it as such and keep a record of God’s faithfulness!  It also allows you to set a timer that will guide you through a time of intentional prayer through the different items on your list.  Efficient, right?  What a great tool to get you in new life-giving habit of prayer!

YouVersion – Probably the most well known app on this list, YouVersion is the easiest way to have access to the full Bible in a bazillion translations at any moment.  I do my best not to use the Bible on my phone exclusively, as there’s something powerful in sitting down with the printed, long loved, tattered pages, note taken version that is sitting on my bookshelf.  But with this app, your Bible is with you wherever you go.  Not to mention, it has great reading plans and devotionals to help you dig deeper into God’s teachings.

Daily Audio Bible – This is an app that I have not used myself, but has been recently brought to my attention.  With this app, you can listen to the entire Bible in one calendar year!  Do you have to brush your teeth every morning?  Get dressed?  Fix your hair?  Put on make-up?  How about you pull out your phone, and turn on the daily audio Bible?  It’s a great way to hear his truths as you prepare for whatever your day may bring.

Grace Church – Shameless plug here!  Audrey and I absolutely adore our church here in Akron, OH.  If you’re local, we would love for you to check it out.  But if you’re not local, even YOU can benefit from our church’s app.  Each week, you will find the weekend sermon uploaded onto there and you can listen to our pastor’s teachings from the comfort of your own home, no matter where you live.  There are great churches all across the country that we would encourage you to get involved and be a part of, but these podcasts can serve as a great supplement to whatever God is teaching you, no matter your season of life or location.

Komae isn’t an app about faith and it doesn’t come filled with verses and devotionals.  And by no means do you need to be a Christian woman in order to benefit from the life-change free babysitting can bring you!  But I do thank you for the opportunity to share a little bit about something important to me and how I manage to keep it central to my life!
